Just Breathe | Golden Touch

So, I know I’ve been MIA the last week or so.  With school getting underway, registrations, football practice starting, memory mates and school pictures I’ve been one busy little woman.  (Notice I threw in *little*…..like I’ll ever be that again!  But I am down 15 pounds with my oily weight loss plan!  Check it out HERE.)

Also over the course of the last week our youngest son had (what we believe to be) an asthma attack.  One night during football it hit and his daddy and I have been a little upended and maybe even a bit in shock trying to discover how this could have happened and how to move ahead.

I instantly began reading and researching asthma, causes, triggers, etc.  We made an appointment with our doctor’s office, only to discover we were LESS than pleased with the outcome and visit with had with the nurse practitioner.  I really missed my doc that day.  Over the last 4-5 years we have used very little prescription meds for anything.  We try to move toward more natural and safer alternatives for our family if at all possible.  Now, I’m not saying we never take medicine but I want to move as far away from it as possible.

I talked with several friends who have kids with asthma, what triggers theirs, how they handle it, how they discovered it.  To me, hearing from others who have experience means the world.  You don’t always learn about life through books.  But I was surprised to find a study that linked atopic dermatitis in babies and toddlers to a later onset of asthma.  The Washington University in St. Louis published this article, which described our boy to a tee.  When I asked the nurse practitioner you would have thought I had two heads.  Between my questions and my statements making it known we prefer natural medicine and essential oils when possible pretty much shut her down.  Or should I say, she shut me down.  From that point forward my wishes and concerns were irrelevant and completely disregarded.  It was as if we weren’t even in the room.

So, I read and read, and read some more.  Watched some testimonials from others who live with asthma and how they use essential oils and after doing my ‘research’ decided to try RC, Raven & Breathe Again (it’s an awesome little roll on bottle!).

diffuser3

I don’t know how we ever lived without this little thing.

I try to be VERY proactive when it comes to my kiddos.  No matter what it is we’re dealing with.  Health concerns, school, friendships.  It’s my job as a parent.  I only wish more people were involved where their kids are concerned.  Anywho…..

I read that some have had so much success with these three oils that they have replaced the steroids they used, their inhalers and even a few testimonials raving about replacing their rescue inhalers had me feeling very hopeful.  We started a daily routine of diffusing oils right away.  I get up before he does and start the diffuser with RC in the morning while he’s still sleeping for at least 30 minutes to an hour.  He sleeps with the diffuser on at bedtime with Raven oil.  And every morning before he heads off to school, or before he has an activity that I know he’ll be exerting himself we use the Breathe Again roll-on on his chest.

Now, we formally don’t know that he in fact has asthma.  We await our next appointment with a new doctor in less than 24 hours.  (I’m stoked, seriously!)  Hoping to have a more definite answer and some concrete evidence if we are in fact dealing with asthma.  The good news is, he has not had another attack since Thursday (5 days so far!), and he LOVES his oils.  Yes, I said LOVES.  One of my girlfriend’s sons is his best friend and she called because her boy came home asking if she knew what essential oils are.  We laughed together picturing them sitting around the lunch table or during football practice with my boy teaching the other kids about essential oils.  My own little entrepreneur in the making.  lol

Last night was his first night of football practice since his attack.  I oiled him up before practice with the Breathe Again roll-on and had to leave dad in charge as I was called away for work.  When I got home my husband said that he wasn’t supposed to tell mom, but there must be something ‘SUPER’ in my oils because he felt like an animal at practice!  I laughed so hard.  Dad helps coach so he has a very close watch on our boy and he said, “Seriously though….he has NEVER practiced better.  In the last 4 years our boy has played football he had his best practice tonight.  Of all time.  What the heck did you put on him?  We’re doing it again, right?”  Even better was when I got inside and our boy proceeded to tell me the same story dad wasn’t supposed to share.  lol  He was so proud and so excited!

Golden Touch Kit

I secretly think (after watching him and looking back over the years of the things we’ve experienced), that he’s never really had a full lung capacity and we just never realized it.  When we put the oils on his chest and neck he says it feels really good and helps him breathe.  I don’t know how, I don’t even wanna know why.  I’m just glad my baby can still run and play and do what he wants without worry.  He’s been really great about that.  No worries, no stress.  Momma’s got this.  I love that he trusts the oils as much as I do.

*When I went to order the individual oils that we needed, the RC was out of stock (very popular, did I mention that?!) so I purchased the Golden Touch Kit.  It contains RC and Raven along with some other very important and popular oils to have on hand that I had been wanting and was actually running low on.  So it just made sense to get the kit.  if you’d like to shop online check out the SHOP link above, or if you’d like to learn how to get your oils at wholesale cost with a membership you can click HERE to learn how to save.

Once Upon a Time | Melaleuca

Once upon a time in a land far, far away….. just kidding.  It was only 10 years ago and happened in Missouri.  Don’t I wish I was far, far away.  On a beach.  With a good book. 😉

When our youngest son was just a baby he developed eczema.  I’d never seen a baby with such horrible red skin and as a parent you NEVER want your kids to feel bad.  Of all the childhood illnesses I never dreamed looking into my baby’s eyes and sweet cheeks that he would look like a watermelon had exploded on his face and it would bring me to tears.  Surprisingly after going to the doctor and hearing the good news that he didn’t have some debilitating third world disease taking over his body, we had a simple enough solution to make it all go away.  Just a prescription cream.  Only I didn’t want something that a doctor had to essentially write a permission slip for me to use as it was too ‘potent’ to sell over the counter.  I wanted something that didn’t have a wrap sheet of side effects a mile long!   We’d already filled the script (because 10 years ago our insurance was awesome and it didn’t cost us anything!  So much for change….but that’s another post for another blog), and then took the time to read the informative insert that came along with our little wonder tube.  We quickly decided against using it.  I tried to find every alternative method I could to help ease the itch and make it go away.  Lucky for us our boy wasn’t a scratcher and stayed relatively happy through it all.

Bear in mind this was a good day!  🙂  Only his face and part of his arms were broke out and not too bad at that!

Then someone introduced us to a wellness company that had natural products for our home and health and in this one special little bottle of essential oil we found our miracle.  The company made a body lotion that had melaleuca oil that was recommended for skin conditions such as eczema and rosacea.  After just one or two days it was AMAZING what we saw.  Our little melon boy was starting to look normal again!  He no longer looked like someone with third degree burns on his face and arms!  The doctors told us not to bathe him everyday either as it could dry his skin out and make his condition worse.  As a baby (especially a winter baby) that wasn’t that big of a deal.  No hot weather, no frogs to stick in your pockets at just 3 months old.  😉  Which became a normal routine for us of bathing a couple times a week.

And voila! I checked the data on these pictures in my computer and this was about a week after the first picture.

As he grew older his skin would get a little dry in the winter but that was it.  We always resorted to the same lotion and melaleuca oil.  We never had to deal with eczema again.  🙂  We were sold on that one simple little essential oil and used it for EVERYTHING.  Literally.  It’s like a wonder oil for so many things.  You can imagine momma’s excitement when she discovered Young Living  some 5 or 6 years later and the whole plethora of natural goodness that followed.

I can only imagine what I would have done if I’d had Young Living all those years ago.  If you suffer from eczema here’s a few tips I’d suggest, as always research and reading on your own is a must!  Then you might want to give this a try:
